Maurizio Rasero resigns as President of Banca di Asti

Maurizio Rasero, the Mayor of Asti, has announced his decision to resign from his position as President of Banca di Asti. Rasero stated that while his appointments comply with regulations and present no formal conflicts of interest, he chose to prioritize his role as mayor over his leadership at the bank.

The decision follows a request from the Bank of Italy on August 28, which sought clarification regarding Rasero’s dual role as both the city's mayor and the bank's president. The Bank of Italy's 'Fit & Proper' assessment regarding the professional requirements of the institution's leadership is expected to conclude in late October or early November.

Local political group ‘I Giovani Astigiani’ expressed support for the move, describing it as a responsible choice to protect both the bank and the city. Rasero will remain in his mayoral position until the end of his mandate in the spring of 2027. Formal resignation proceedings are expected to be finalized during a shareholders' meeting scheduled by October.
