Maurizio Sarri fined €2,000 by Italian Football Federation for disrespectful remarks

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) imposed a €2,000 fine on coach Maurizio Sarri after it concluded an investigation (procedure No. 1322 pf 25‑26) into comments he made about the Lega Calcio Serie A. The remarks, deemed disrespectful, were repeated in press interviews surrounding Lazio matches against Pisa (30 Oct 2025), Bologna (11 Feb 2026) and Roma (17 May 2026). The sanction was applied under article 126 of the Sports Justice Code following a request from Sarri himself and a report to the Federal Prosecutor.

Sarri, who later took over as Atalanta’s head coach, accepted the fine without appeal.
