Mauro Icardi barred from leaving Argentina amid passport dispute over daughters
An Argentine court ordered footballer Mauro Icardi not to leave the country until he signs the authorization required for new passports for his two daughters. The girls, Italian citizens, remain in Italy after a robbery at the family home in Milan stole their passports and other documents.
Icardi posted a lengthy statement on social media questioning the legal basis of the travel ban and urging that the matter be resolved under Italian jurisdiction. His ex‑wife and former partner Wanda Nara, who is handling the paperwork for the children, said the restriction is meant to unblock the girls’ return to Argentina. The Argentine judge reserved a final decision, while Italian authorities are prepared to intervene if Icardi continues to refuse the signature.
