Mauro Icardi faces driving ban in Argentina after viral video

Argentine footballer Mauro Icardi is facing legal and personal scrutiny following his departure from Galatasaray. After failing to secure a new European contract, the 33-year-old has returned to Argentina, where he is currently without a club. Icardi has defended his decision to remain unattached, stating that he views it as “freedom of choice” rather than failure.

Authorities in the province of Buenos Aires have issued a provisional driving ban against Icardi, effective symbolically until 2099, following a viral social media video. The footage, posted by his partner, actress María Eugenia ‘China’ Suárez, showed her leaning out of a car window without a seatbelt while Icardi was driving. Investigations revealed that Icardi was also driving with an expired license. To regain driving privileges, authorities stated he must undergo a fitness-to-drive evaluation.

In addition to legal issues, the couple has faced public criticism regarding their lifestyle. Social media users have commented on the state of their residence in Nordelt, and there have been reports of concerns regarding the schooling of Suárez’s children following their move from Turkey.
