Mauro Icardi faces driving ban in Argentina until 2099

Argentine footballer Mauro Icardi has been issued a preventive driving ban in the province of Buenos Aires that could extend until the year 2099. The measure follows a viral social media video posted by his partner, actress China Suárez, which showed her leaning out of a moving vehicle without a seatbelt while Icardi was driving.

Upon reviewing the footage, the Ministry of Transport discovered that Icardi’s Argentine driver's license had expired in May 2019. Consequently, authorities ordered his preventive disqualification and stated he must undergo an evaluation to determine his fitness to drive.

Icardi has contested the decision on social media, arguing that the authorities are misinterpreting his administrative status. He maintains that he holds a valid Italian driver's license that is effective until 2029 and claims he does not currently possess a valid Argentine license, as the document was surrendered when he converted it to a European one.
