Mauro Icardi receives driving ban in Argentina until 2099

Argentine footballer Mauro Icardi has been issued a preventive driving ban by the Ministry of Transport of the Province of Buenos Aires, with the suspension formally recorded until the year 2099. The measure follows the viral spread of a social media video posted by his partner, actress Eugenia ‘China’ Suárez, which showed her leaning out of a moving vehicle without a seatbelt while Icardi was driving.

Upon investigation, authorities discovered that Icardi’s Argentine driver's license had been expired since May 2019. The Ministry stated that the suspension is a precautionary measure and that Icardi must undergo psychological and physical evaluations to prove his fitness to drive before being eligible for a new license.

Icardi has publicly contested the decision, claiming he holds a valid Italian driver's license until 2029 and accusing authorities of seeking media attention. However, officials noted that residents must comply with local registration requirements. The incident has drawn criticism from organizations such as Madres del Dolor, which called for the couple to show greater responsibility regarding road safety.
