Mauro Icardi leaves Galatasaray as contract talks collapse

Argentinian striker Mauro Icardi’s four‑season spell with Galatasaray has ended after the club’s renewal offer was rejected. President Dursun Özbek had proposed a 4 + 1 million‑euro deal, which Icardi initially declined and later failed to respond to. The club announced that the player’s contract will expire and that he is no longer part of the squad.

Sources said Icardi has been in contact with several Italian clubs as he prepares to return to Italy. Reports indicate that a team willing to meet his demands is close to signing a new contract. During this period Icardi vacated his Istanbul residence and is focusing on the next step in his career.

The termination marks the end of a tenure in which Icardi scored 77 goals and provided 25 assists in 134 matches, contributing to four league titles for Galatasaray.
