Mauro Icardi's manager denies Galatasaray return rumors
Mauro Icardi’s manager, Elio Pino, has denied reports claiming the Argentine striker attempted to return to Galatasaray with a reduced annual salary. Following the expiration of his contract with the Turkish club, rumors circulated in the Argentine press suggesting that the 33-year-old forward, who is currently a free agent, had reached out to the club to propose a new deal.
Speaking to journalist Gustavo Mendez, Pino dismissed the claims as “fake news” and criticized those spreading the rumors, calling them “a disgrace to journalism.” Pino clarified that no one has approached Galatasaray regarding Icardi’s return and noted that the club has not contacted him either. He described Icardi’s tenure at Galatasaray as a “wonderful adventure” that had a natural beginning and end.
Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek had previously addressed the speculation, stating that the club’s primary challenge was not Icardi’s salary but the tactical difficulty of playing him alongside striker Victor Osimhen. Özbek mentioned that the club is waiting for a response from Icardi to organize a farewell event to honor his contributions to the team.
