Mauro Matos alleges forced transfer to Barracas Central

Former footballer Mauro Matos has made serious allegations regarding his time at Barracas Central, claiming he was forced to join the club in 2019. Matos stated that he had an agreement to join Quilmes, but was pressured to change course following a phone call from Claudio ‘Chiqui’ Tapia, who was leading Barracas Central at the time.

Matos described the situation as being ‘put against the sword and the wall,’ explaining that he was told he would not receive any payment if he chose to play for Quilmes instead. Citing the need to provide for his two children, he felt he had no choice but to accept the Barracas Central offer. He also noted that his brother had previously warned him about the potential difficulties of joining the club.
