La Unión secures $967 million for Estadio Centenario renovation

The Municipality of La Unión has secured approximately $967.7 million in funding for the conservation and renovation of the Estadio Centenario in the Los Ríos region. The project, approved by the Regional Council of Los Ríos and financed through the National Fund for Regional Development (FNDR), aims to modernize the facility for its 8,000 monthly users.

Planned improvements include the replacement of the main pitch and warm-up area with synthetic turf, the installation of 16 new LED projectors for improved lighting, and renovations to the stands, locker rooms, bathrooms, and offices. Due to the scale of the works, the stadium is expected to be closed for approximately one year, with the goal of reopening as a modernized venue by 2028.
