Mağusa Devlet Hastanesi has successfully performed its first heart bypass surgery, marking a significant milestone for the healthcare system in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). Health Minister Dr. Hakan Dinçyürek announced that following the activation of the angiography and cardiovascular surgery services, a three-vessel bypass operation was successfully completed last Thursday.
In addition to the bypass surgery, the angiography service has treated nearly 350 cases in recent months, and the cardiovascular surgery department has begun performing operations for peripheral vascular diseases. Dr. Hakan Dinçyürek noted that the investments enabling these medical advancements received substantial financial and moral support from Turkey.
Cardiovascular surgery specialist Dr. Harun Gülmez and the surgical team, including doctors Kürşat Kurt, Seran Gülbudak, and Aydın Karakuzu, were credited with the successful procedure. The patient is reported to be in good health and satisfied with the care received.
