MAUSI Rescate Animal seeks new facility for 150 rescued pets

The animal rescue organization MAUSI Rescate Animal is urgently seeking a new facility to house more than 150 rescued dogs and cats. The search follows the decision by the current property owners to sell the premises located on the Xalapa-Coatepec highway near Río Sordo.

Araceli Jiménez, the organization's representative, is requesting a space of at least 800 square meters in the Coatepec area, Xalapa, or nearby municipalities such as Emiliano Zapata. The shelter is looking for options through lease agreements or land grants (comodato).

The animals currently under their care include those rescued from abandonment, abuse, and illness, including senior pets and those with disabilities. Jiménez noted that the organization, which has operated for over 25 years, faces significant monthly costs for food and veterinary care, with some medical treatments exceeding 15,000 pesos per animal.
