Maverick Viñales to return for MotoGP Japanese Grand Prix

Maverick Viñales is set to return to MotoGP competition at the Japanese Grand Prix at Mobility Resort Motegi. The Tech3 KTM rider has received medical clearance following a three-month absence caused by shoulder injury complications.

Viñales has been sidelined since the German Grand Prix in July. His recovery involved corrective surgery to remove a loose screw and a rehabilitation program supported by the Red Bull Athlete Performance Centre. To prepare for his return, he recently participated in testing on the KTM RC16 at the Red Bull Ring.

While Viñales noted that he is “not yet at 100%,” the team intends to support a gradual reintegration to help him regain his physical rhythm and racing sensations. His return reunites the full-time Tech3 rider lineup for the 16th round of the 2026 season.
