Mavromati Hospital oncology modernization reaches only 11% completion

The modernization and expansion of the Oncology Department at the ‘Mavromati’ County Hospital in Botoșani has reached only 11% completion. Senator Cătălin Silegeanu reported that the construction project, valued at over 33 million lei, has faced significant setbacks after the contractor's association leader filed for insolvency.

Although contractors were appointed in August 2023, work only began on February 27, 2025, and stalled after just one month. This delay has left 89% of the work unfinished, with a contractual deadline of February 27, 2027. The project involves a vertical expansion of the building housing oncology and radiology services.

Silegeanu highlighted the impact on local patients, noting that approximately 8,850 residents were recorded in oncology files at the start of 2025. The delays have forced treatments to be conducted in a relocated section, disrupting oncology and radiology activities. The senator has committed to requesting monthly progress reports and recovery plans to ensure the facility is ready by the 2027 deadline.
