Max Alran and Harriet Harnden win World Cup Downhill in Les Gets

The UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Les Gets, France, saw major breakthroughs for both male and female riders. Harriet Harnden secured her first Elite Downhill World Cup victory, notably using a Gates belt-drive transmission system. Marine Cabirou finished second, while Valentina Höll took third, a result that mathematically secured her fifth overall World Cup title.

In the men’s Elite category, 19-year-old Frenchman Max Alran claimed his first World Cup victory on home soil. Alran, riding for Commencal/Muc-Off, outperformed Andreas Kolb and Jackson Goldstone to win the race. His victory sparked massive celebrations among the local crowd, which included a traditional pitch invasion of the finish area.

The event served as a final major test before the upcoming World Championships in Val di Sole. Other notable performances included Adrien Boichis’s success in the short-track and strong showings from the Thömus RN Swiss Bike Team.
