Max Fried pitches five innings in Yankees' 1-0 loss to Mariners

The New York Yankees suffered a 1-0 loss to the Seattle Mariners at Yankee Stadium on Thursday. Despite a solid performance from pitcher Max Fried, the Yankees' offense struggled, managing only four hits and striking out 10 times.

Fried pitched five innings, allowing one run on a home run by Weston Wilson. While he took the loss, Fried noted that he did not feel he had his ‘best stuff’ and described the outing as a ‘grind’ where he relied heavily on his defense and catcher Ali Sánchez. Fried threw 88 pitches to complete his five innings of work.

The Yankees' lineup failed to capitalize on opportunities, leaving 10 runners on base. Key players including Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Spencer Jones recorded multiple strikeouts, while the bottom four hitters combined for just one hit in eight at-bats.
