Max Fried placed on Yankees 15-day injured list with elbow injury

The New York Yankees have placed starting pitcher Max Fried on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to August 14, due to a recurring left elbow bone bruise. This is the second time Fried has dealt with this specific injury during the current season, having previously missed approximately two months.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone expressed optimism that the current setback may be less severe than the first, noting that the team decided to take a cautious approach to ensure the inflammation subsides. While the team has not provided a definitive return timeline, there is hope he could return by the end of August if he clears necessary medical steps.

To bolster the rotation during Fried's absence, the Yankees are activating Carlos Rodón, who returns from a stint with elbow inflammation. Additionally, outfielder Cody Bellinger is expected to begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following a hamstring strain.
