Max Fried to return from injured list for Yankees doubleheader

New York Yankees left-handed pitcher Max Fried is set to return from the injured list for Saturday's doubleheader against the Boston Red Sox. Yankees manager Aaron Boone confirmed that Fried will start one of the two games, while fellow lefty Carlos Rodon is scheduled to start the other.

Fried, 32, has been sidelined since August 17 due to a bone bruise in his left elbow. This marks his second stint on the injured list this season for the same issue. During his 15 starts this year, Fried has maintained a 2.81 ERA with a 4-4 record.

The upcoming series is significant for the American League standings, as the Yankees currently hold a 2.5-game lead over the Red Sox in the race for the top American League wild card and home-field advantage.
