Max Gawn discusses Melbourne contract and list management

Melbourne captain Max Gawn has expressed support for the club’s recent list-management decisions, including the departure of Jack Viney. Gawn, who is 33 and will be off contract in 2027, stated that while he hopes to finish his career as a one-club player, he remains open to other opportunities if negotiations with the Demons do not progress.

Gawn noted that he understands the business side of football after seeing several premiership teammates, including Clayton Oliver, Christian Petracca, Steven May, and Viney, depart the club over the last two seasons. Speaking at the launch of the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, Gawn indicated he would be open to discussions with other clubs, including the new Tasmanian side, should his future with Melbourne be uncertain.
