Max Harris, two, undergoes surgery for fist-sized brain tumour
Max Harris, a two-year-old boy from Dubbo, underwent urgent neurosurgery after doctors discovered a massive brain tumour and cyst. The tumour, described as being the size of an adult fist, had displaced the centre of his brain and caused loss of movement in his left arm and leg.
His family initially believed his symptoms, which included dragging his left leg, were the result of a hip injury. After his condition worsened, an MRI was conducted, leading to his urgent transfer to Sydney for medical intervention. Doctors initially administered steroids to manage intracranial pressure before proceeding with surgical preparations at Westmead Children's Hospital.
