Max Higgins found dead in Argentina after failed theme park promises

Max Higgins, a Jamaican national known for his ambitious and unfulfilled promises in Argentina, was found dead at age 55 in the Libertad area of Merlo, Buenos Aires province. His body was discovered by a bus driver on a public road. While emergency teams indicated there were no signs of violence and suggested natural causes, local authorities have opened an investigation to determine the exact cause of death.

Higgins, whose real name was Emile Maxim St. Patrick Higgins, gained notoriety in Argentina starting around 2007. He famously claimed he would build the first Disney-style theme park in Latin America, announcing the purchase of over 100 hectares in San Pedro. During his rise, he lived a high-profile lifestyle involving luxury cars and designer clothing, and organized large-scale events featuring figures such as Diego Maradona, Sergio Goycochea, and Gabriel Batistuta.

His career was marked by legal challenges, including lawsuits from Disney and Warner for fraud and issuing bad checks. Following his period of perceived wealth and media presence, Higgins fell into extreme poverty, spending his final years living on the streets and begging in areas such as Retiro and Paseo Colón.
