Max Korten Named Permanent GM of East Bay Regional Park District

Acting general manager Max Korten has been selected as the finalist for the permanent general manager position of the East Bay Regional Park District after a five‑month, nationwide recruitment that attracted nearly 100 candidates. The board will vote on a three‑year contract that includes an annual salary of $388,731 along with standard benefits.

Korten, who joined the district as deputy GM in October 2024 following a decade at Marin County Parks, assumed the acting role in November after the sudden departure of former GM Sabrina Landreth. The board’s August 4 meeting in Oakland will also address a closed‑session discussion of a legal claim filed by Landreth alleging discrimination, harassment, retaliation and corruption.
