Max Lucado releases new book addressing modern anxiety
Author and pastor Max Lucado has released a new book, ‘Unbreakable Courage: Strong Faith in an Age of Anxiety, Chaos, and Exhaustion’, aimed at addressing modern mental health challenges through a spiritual lens.
Lucado, the 71-year-old pastor of Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas, notes that current cultural stressors—including political scandals, rising anxiety disorders, and increasing suicide rates among youth—create a heavy atmosphere for believers. He draws parallels between contemporary society and the era of the Old Testament prophet Elijah in 9th-century B.C. Israel, a period marked by spiritual decay and moral erosion.
Lucado suggests that the story of Elijah serves as a guide for maintaining faith while navigating a fractured and uncertain culture.
