Max Martin and David West Read to attend ‘& Juliet’ premiere in Utrecht

Songwriter Max Martin and writer David West Read will attend the Dutch premiere of the musical ‘& Juliet’ on October 7 at the Beatrix Theater in Utrecht.

The production, announced by Stage Entertainment, is based on the musical catalog of Max Martin, one of the world’s most successful producers. The musical features 29 of his hits, including songs written for artists such as Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC, Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, Ariana Grande, and The Weeknd. The story provides a modern twist on the classic Romeo and Juliet narrative by centering on Juliet.

David West Read, an Emmy and Golden Globe winner known for his work on the series ‘Schitt’s Creek’, developed the script after researching Martin’s catalog. The Dutch production will star Teddy Vermeer, Levi van Kempen, and Dave Rijnders. This follows the original London premiere in 2019 and the Broadway opening in 2022.
