Max Meyer joins Rot-Weiss Oberhausen

Former German international Max Meyer is returning to his hometown to join Rot-Weiss Oberhausen in the Regionalliga West. The 30-year-old midfielder has reportedly agreed to a two-year contract with the club, where he previously played during his youth from 2002 to 2004.

Meyer, who has extensive experience in the Bundesliga and the English Premier League, most recently played for APOEL Nikosia. His return to the fourth tier follows several years playing abroad at clubs including Crystal Palace, Fenerbahce, and FC Luzern.

In addition to playing, Meyer intends to pursue training to become a youth coach at the club. The transfer is viewed as a significant move for Rot-Weiss Oberhausen as they aim to advance their standing in German football.
