Max Miller claims abuse allegations are costing union support

Republican Representative Max Miller (OH-07) has stated in a court affidavit that domestic abuse allegations are causing him to lose union support and campaign funding. Miller, who is seeking reelection, claims that a lobbyist for a trade union informed him that support was being withdrawn due to the allegations involving his ex-wife, Emily Moreno.

The allegations include claims of physical abuse and an investigation into a broken collarbone sustained by his two-year-old daughter. While Miller denies all accusations of abuse, the controversy has coincided with a shift in labor support. His Democratic opponent, ironworker Brian Poindexter, has gained endorsements from several national and local unions, including the Ohio chapter of a major labor federation.

Miller estimates that the legal and political fallout has increased his projected reelection campaign costs from $1.4 million to between $2.5 million and $3 million. He also noted a loss of approximately $30,000 in organizational support, alongside a decline in individual donations.
