Max Miller faces intense spending in Ohio House race

Republican Representative Max Miller is defending his seat in Ohio’s 7th Congressional District, a region previously considered safe for the GOP. The race has become a significant battleground for the House majority, with Democrats spending approximately $17 million to challenge Miller, while Republicans have spent over $9 million in the district.

Miller’s reelection bid has been impacted by allegations from his ex-wife regarding domestic abuse, claims which he vehemently denies. A high-profile custody case related to these allegations is scheduled to go to trial shortly after Election Day. While national Republicans previously considered asking Miller to exit the race, the Congressional Leadership Fund has since invested more than $5 million to support him.

Financial reports indicate Miller has relied on personal loans to fund his campaign, including $1 million last quarter and an additional $250,000 recently. He faces Democratic challenger Brian Poindexter, a union ironworker, in a district that includes rural communities and the outer suburbs of Cleveland.
