Max Miller threatens legal action over campaign ad allegations
Republican Congressman Max Miller is facing intense political and legal pressure following the release of a campaign advertisement by Democratic challenger Brian Poindexter. The ad features a law enforcement officer detailing allegations of domestic violence and child abuse involving Miller and his former wife, Emily Moreno.
Miller’s legal team has issued a cease-and-desist letter to the Poindexter campaign, labeling the claims as “false, malicious, and defamatory.” The letter disputes specific assertions in the ad, including claims regarding a restraining order, physical violence involving a firearm, and an injury to the couple’s son. Miller’s attorney noted that public records indicate Miller holds a protection order against his ex-wife and that a child welfare investigation found no evidence of abuse toward their son.
Poindexter has responded to the legal threat by publicly dismissing the cease-and-desist letter and urging supporters to donate to his campaign to keep the advertisement on air. The Cook Political Report recently shifted its assessment of the Ohio congressional race from “likely Republican” to a “toss up.”
