Max Purcell returns to Australian Davis Cup squad
Max Purcell, the Grand Slam doubles champion, has been selected for Australia's Davis Cup squad to face Poland. The 28-year-old returns to the national team following an 18-month anti-doping ban.
Purcell's suspension stemmed from an IV vitamin infusion received while ill in Bali, which exceeded the 100ml annual limit permitted by the World Anti-Doping Agency. His two-year sanction was reduced by 25 percent due to his cooperation with the International Tennis Integrity Agency.
Davis Cup captain Lleyton Hewitt has named a squad that includes Alex de Minaur, James Duckworth, Rinky Hijikata, and Adam Walton. Australia is scheduled to compete in their World Group 1 tie at Brisbane's Pat Rafter Arena on September 19-20.
