Max Scherzer delays retirement decision until off-season

Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Max Scherzer has announced he will delay his decision regarding retirement until the off-season. The 42-year-old veteran, a three-time Cy Young Award winner, stated he feels physically capable and intends to focus on finishing the current season before addressing his future.

Following the Blue Jays' elimination from playoff contention, Scherzer reflected on his performance, taking personal responsibility for recent losses. Despite a season where his once-dominant slider has become vulnerable to hitters, Scherzer has seen increased effectiveness from his curveball, which has seen its usage rise to 14% as he adapts his pitching arsenal.

Scherzer is scheduled to start on short rest this Sunday against the Cincinnati Reds.
