Max Scherzer reaches 10th all-time in MLB strikeouts

Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Max Scherzer reached a historic Major League Baseball milestone on Saturday night, moving into 10th place on the all-time strikeout leaderboard. By recording his 3,516th career strikeout, Scherzer surpassed Hall of Famer Walter Johnson to take sole possession of the 10th spot.

During the game against the Philadelphia Phillies, Scherzer struck out Kyle Schwarber in the sixth inning to achieve the feat. The 42-year-old pitcher recorded four strikeouts in five innings of work, though he later allowed consecutive home runs to Trea Turner and Bryce Harper.

Scherzer currently sits second among active pitchers in career strikeouts, trailing only Justin Verlander, who has 3,554. His career achievements include three Cy Young Awards, eight All-Star selections, and two World Series titles.
