Max Verstappen likely to drive in GT World Challenge Europe finale
Max Verstappen is expected to participate in the GT World Challenge Europe season finale at Portimão in October. The move comes as his endurance racing team, Verstappen Racing, faces driver shortages due to scheduling conflicts.
Key drivers Jules Gounon and Daniel Juncadella are unavailable for the Portimão race because it coincides with a round of the World Endurance Championship in Barcelona. During a media session in Monza, Verstappen joked that the team has a good ‘reserve driver’ available to step in, implying he may drive himself.
If he competes, the four-time Formula 1 world champion will face a demanding schedule, potentially participating in seven races across four continents within a seven-week period.
