Max Verstappen meets Slovak teen with cancer at Hungarian Grand Prix

Dutch Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen arranged a surprise meeting with 18‑year‑old Nina, a Slovak teenager battling a recurrence of osteosarcoma, during the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend. Former Slovak president Andrej Kiska publicised Nina’s story and helped secure a signed replica of Verstappen’s car and tickets to the race. Medical staff adjusted her treatment schedule so she could travel to Budapest.

Despite traffic delays on the highway to the Hungaroring that threatened to miss the planned meeting time, Verstappen arrived later than scheduled and spent several minutes with Nina, offering personal encouragement. The encounter was described by Kiska as an unforgettable moment that will give Nina strength for her ongoing treatment.
