Max Verstappen competes in GT World Challenge finale at Portimão

Formula 1 champion Max Verstappen is competing in the GT World Challenge Europe season finale at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimão. Driving a Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO for his own team, Verstappen shares the cockpit with teammates Ben Barnicoat and Chris Lulham.

The weekend has been marked by significant activity and controversy. During the first free practice session, Verstappen was involved in a collision with Ezequiel Pérez Companc’s Audi, resulting in a reprimand and a disciplinary point after stewards ruled it an avoidable collision. Verstappen finished the qualifying session in 15th position.

The event features a high-profile grid, including MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi competing in a BMW for Team WRT, as well as Arthur Leclerc and Nikita Mazepin. The three-hour endurance race is being broadcast for free on DAZN in several regions, including Portugal, Spain, and France.
