Max Verstappen to face 100 competitors in Silverstone go-kart race

Four-time Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen will participate in a unique go-karting event titled ‘Max vs 100’ at the Silverstone Circuit on September 16. The competition, organized by Red Bull, features a massive 101-kart grid where Verstappen must start from the very back and attempt to overtake 100 competitors before the race concludes.

The diverse field of challengers includes Red Bull athletes such as ultrarunner Arda Saatçi, basketball specialist Chris ‘Lethal Shooter’ Matthews, and freestyle mountain biker Matt Jones, alongside various digital content creators, streamers, and fans. The event is designed to test Verstappen’s fundamental racing skills, including starts, defense, and overtaking, in a high-traffic environment.

A custom track layout has been engineered specifically for this challenge by race director and former youth karting world champion David Terrien. The event will be broadcast live globally on Disney+ and ESPN, utilizing cinematic drone footage and gaming-inspired graphics to enhance the viewing experience. Notably, Verstappen will have the ability to communicate directly with other drivers via radio during the race.
