Max Verstappen weighs Red Bull's Austrian upgrade and praises new teammate Isack Hadjar

Red Bull Racing unveiled a major aerodynamic upgrade package for its car at the Austrian Grand Prix, aiming to reduce the performance gap that has left the team trailing by roughly four‑tenths per lap to about a tenth. Team principal Laurent Mekies said the package alone may not be sufficient, but hopes it will bring the Red Bulls closer to Max Verstappen’s championship pace.

Verstappen, speaking after practice sessions, said the new Dutch‑born teammate Isack Hadjar has adjusted well to the team and is the first driver in years to keep up with him. He praised Hadjar’s attitude, noting that each driver is different and that the team is working on overall performance improvements. Verstappen also commented on the high temperatures expected in Austria (34‑36 °C) and confirmed he will not use the optional cooling vest, preferring to carry the required ballast instead.

Mercedes also announced a modification to the diffuser on its W17 chassis during the same weekend, while Ferrari and Audi are seeking to introduce engine upgrades ahead of public FIA approval.
