The new season of the Maxa Liga ice hockey league begins on Wednesday, September 9. In the Zlín region, Zlín will open their campaign against Chomutov.

VHK ROBE Vsetín enters the season with significant changes following a quarter-final exit last year. The club has undergone a major roster overhaul, with eleven players departing and eight new players joining. General Manager Daniel Vaněk stated the goal was to rejuvenate and accelerate the team. Additionally, the club has introduced a new visual identity and logo to move into a new organizational stage.

Vsetín faces a challenging start to the season with upcoming matches against Slavia Prague, Třebíč, Zlín, Litoměřice, and Kolín. Coach Luboš Jenáček emphasized the importance of securing points in the opening games.

Other sporting events in the Zlín region this week include football matches in the 4th, 5th, and 6th leagues, various cycling and running races such as the Zámecká pětka in Holešov and the Strojařská desítka in Zlín, and horse racing in Slušovice.
