MaxBet faces criminal complaint over 125,000 euro betting dispute

A married couple in Podgorica has filed a criminal complaint against Arua DOO Podgorica, operating under the brand MaxBet, and its executive director, Igor Trajković. The couple alleges that the betting company canceled three winning tickets covering 41 sporting events, totaling a potential payout of over 125,000 euros.

According to the complaint, the tickets remained active during the matches, with the system calculating their value and even offering cashout options. However, the company subsequently canceled the tickets and returned the original stakes, citing technical errors in the display of odds. The couple's lawyer, Obrad Delević, stated that the timing and manner of the cancellations suggest the actions may constitute criminal offenses rather than a simple civil dispute.

Delević also noted that because MaxBet is owned by a legal entity based in Belgrade, Serbia, the case raises broader concerns regarding the protection of domestic users and the conduct of foreign capital within the Montenegrin market.
