Paul Seixas abandons Tour Auvergne‑Rhône‑Alpes after crash
French 19‑year‑old Paul Seixas of the Decathlon CMA CGM team suffered a high‑speed crash at about 70 km/h on the descent of the Côte de Saint‑Maurice‑de‑Rotherens early in stage 7 of the Tour Auvergne‑Rhône‑Alpes on 13 June 2026. He slid on the asphalt for 20‑30 metres, sustaining cuts, bruises and a blood‑stained white jersey, and later said, “It was my mistake, there is no excuse.”
Despite the injuries, Seixas remounted, chased the peloton for roughly 60 km and finished the stage seventh on the Grand Colombier, 1 minute 21 seconds behind winner Isaac del Toro. He remained sixth overall, 1 minute 54 seconds behind race leader Luke Tuckwell.
On the final stage (stage 8) Seixas started but, after calling the medical car on the early climb of Bisanne, he withdrew before the Plateau de Solaison, ending his preparation for the upcoming Tour de France. He credited his cycling gloves for reducing hand injuries, stating they “saved me today.”
