Maxim Wakultschik solo exhibition opening in Münster

The Galerie Ostendorff in Münster will host a solo exhibition by Düsseldorf artist Maxim Wakultschik titled ‘Light becoming Matter’ starting August 29, 2026. The exhibition features approximately 70 works spanning various series that explore the boundaries between painting, relief, and sculpture.

A central focus of the show is the new ‘Optical Portraits Prisma’ series. These works utilize light, perception, and layered structures to challenge the stability of the human portrait. By incorporating shifting colors, overlapping planes, and light flashes, the pieces create a perception-based experience where the image appears to change based on the viewer's angle.

The exhibition aims to investigate the transition from the invisible to the visible, treating the human figure as a complex interplay of body, light, energy, and emotion rather than a purely material form. The opening event will feature a speech by Dr. Alexander Leinemann, and the exhibition is scheduled to run until September 19, 2026.
