Maxima food prices decrease faster than market average

According to a price comparison study conducted by the independent portal Pricer.lt on September 23, food prices at Maxima decreased faster than the overall market average at the beginning of autumn.

The study found that the average basket of the cheapest food items at Maxima cost 59.70 EUR in September. This was 10.67 EUR less than the average price for the same basket across the other four major retail chains. Consequently, shoppers at Maxima saved approximately 15 percent compared to what they would have spent at competing retailers.

Giedrius Galdikas, Director of Communications and Corporate Relations at Maxima, stated that the company is continuing a price reduction initiative started in the spring, which included lowering prices on over 500 fresh food items. While the overall market saw a slight decrease in the cheapest food basket compared to the previous year, Maxima's price reductions outpaced the general trend.
