Maxima Roma unveils governance board as coaching talks continue

Maxima Roma, one of two new basketball clubs set to debut in Italy's Serie A1 next season after acquiring the licence from Germani Brescia, announced its corporate structure on 30 July. The newly formed board is headed by Paul Matiasic, an Italian‑American lawyer and former president of Pallacanestro Trieste, who will serve as executive president. Richard Lawrence Perna was named vice‑president, with Assia Grazioli‑Veniere, Alessandro Pizzirani and Renato Giallombardo joining as delegated councillors and legal advisor.

The club is also working to finalize its head‑coach appointment. While Dwane Casey, the 2018 NBA Coach of the Year, was widely expected to take the role, recent reports indicate that negotiations have stalled and his move to Rome remains uncertain, leaving the coaching vacancy unresolved.
