Maxime Grousset wins silver in 50m butterfly at European Championships
French swimmer Maxime Grousset secured a silver medal in the 50m butterfly at the European Aquatics Championships in Saint-Denis. He finished just two hundredths of a second behind Russia's Egor Kornev.
The achievement follows a significant setback two months prior when Grousset suffered a fracture in his left foot during training. The injury forced him to miss the French Championships and required a month of restricted movement. To compensate for the inability to perform leg training, Grousset utilized mental imagery and visualization techniques to maintain his competitive edge.
To manage his recovery, Grousset opted to withdraw from the 100m freestyle to focus his energy on his specialty, the butterfly. Despite the limited training period since June, his performance in the 50m butterfly demonstrated a successful return to elite competition.
