Maximos Charakopoulos calls for unified Greek agricultural strategy

Maximos Charakopoulos, General Secretary of the New Democracy parliamentary group, has called for a unified national strategy for Greece’s primary sector. Speaking at the Pistachio Festival in Nea Lefki, Charakopoulos expressed hope that the upcoming report from the Interparty Committee will provide a long-term roadmap that binds successive governments regardless of political affiliation.

He highlighted the importance of tree crops, specifically pistachio cultivation, as a dynamic solution to the historical challenges faced by small-scale farmers. Charakopoulos also noted the cultural significance of Nea Lefki, a village founded by refugees from East Rumelia, emphasizing the importance of preserving Greek cultural heritage for future generations.
