Maximos Charakopoulos emphasizes Orthodoxy as a pillar of Greek unity

Maximos Charakopoulos, a Member of Parliament for Larissa and General Secretary of the New Democracy Parliamentary Group, emphasized the role of Orthodoxy as a pillar of unity for the Greek people during religious ceremonies in Gerakari, Agia.

Following a festive vespers and bread-breaking ceremony at the chapel of Saint Symeon, Charakopoulos noted that Orthodox tradition is deeply embedded in the nation's cultural identity and historical struggles. He stated that even those who are religiously indifferent or atheist should respect the national identity, which he described as being “kneaded with Orthodoxy.”

The event included the reception of a relic brought by Elder Symeon, the abbot of the Holy Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Savior in Flamouri, Pilio. Local officials, including the Vice Regional Governor of Thessaly Andriana Komitsa, attended the proceedings alongside a large number of believers.
