Maya introduces ID-less verification for account upgrades

Maya has introduced an ID-less verification process to simplify account upgrades for eligible users. Instead of photographing or uploading a physical ID, users can verify their identity using personal details such as their name and birthday.

The system utilizes National ID eVerify, a service provided by the Philippine Statistics Authority, to cross-reference user details against National ID records. The process involves three main steps: entering known personal details, taking a video selfie for identity confirmation, and providing only necessary additional information that cannot be automatically verified.

If the automated verification through National ID eVerify is unsuccessful, users can revert to the standard ID-upload method. Maya maintains that necessary regulatory checks, screening, and safeguards remain in place through AI, automation, and manual reviews.
