Maya Island Air resumes service to Punta Gorda

Maya Island Air has commenced flight operations to Punta Gorda, Belize, following the sudden withdrawal of Tropic Air from the route. The move ensures continued domestic air connectivity for the Toledo district, which had faced potential disruption after Tropic Air ceased service due to reported financial losses on the route.

To support the new service, the Belizean government has agreed to provide fuel concessions in the form of duty free diesel to Maya Island Air. Additionally, the government is expected to assist with infrastructure, including a hangar and terminal building in Punta Gorda, as well as tourism marketing for the southern region.
