Maya World nations agree to joint tourism promotion strategy
Mexico, represented by the states of Yucatán and Quintana Roo, has entered into an agreement with Belize, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras to strengthen the international promotion of the Maya World. The joint strategy aims to integrate the cultural, historical, and natural attractions of the region through three main pillars: the creation of a multi-destination tourist route, the development of community experience guides, and the production of shared promotional materials.
The initiative was formalized during the meeting of the Board of Directors and the LXXXII Regional Commission of the Organization of the Maya World held in Copán Ruinas, Honduras. The goal is to shift tourism promotion from individual destinations toward a cohesive regional identity that connects various travel experiences.
In related cultural developments, the Cancun Maya Museum is expanding its nocturnal programming through the ‘Noche de Museos’ initiative. Upcoming sessions include lectures on the preservation of Maya heritage and archaeological history, aimed at strengthening community connections and increasing cultural engagement in the region.
