Mayank Agarwal joins Durham for English County Championship stint

Indian batter Mayank Agarwal has signed a short-term deal with Durham County Cricket Club to play the final four matches of the current English County Championship season. The 35-year-old replaces South African international David Bedingham, who is returning to South Africa for his country’s red-ball summer.

Durham Head Coach Ryan Campbell described Agarwal as a ‘high-class international cricketer’ with a superb first-class record. The move aims to bolster Durham’s batting lineup as the team seeks to secure promotion back to Division One of the County Championship.

Agarwal, who previously played for Yorkshire, brings extensive experience to the squad, including 21 Test matches for India. He enters this stint following a strong domestic season in India, where he scored 678 runs for Karnataka in the 2025–26 Ranji Trophy.
