Mayawati criticizes BJP and AAP over Sant Ravidas politics

Mayawati, the national president of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), has criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), urging the community to remain cautious of their political tactics. Her comments center on the legacy of Santguru Shri Ravidas Ji and the historical demolition of the Santguru Shri Ravidas Ji Gurughar in Tughlakabad, Delhi, in 2019.

Mayawati stated that the demolition was carried out using bulldozers and heavy police presence, leading to protests that were met with lathi charges, tear gas, and arrests. She noted that the community is still forced to use temporary tin sheds for worship due to the loss of land.

Furthermore, she accused the BJP of attempting to divert the community from the ideals of 'Begampura' by organizing 'Kalash Yatras' ahead of the Punjab elections. She also referenced an incident in Dhleta village, Punjab, where she claimed the AAP government eventually had to reconstruct a Gurughar wall after protests and arrests occurred. Mayawati invited followers to participate in the Santguru Shri Ravidas Ji Samman Yatra, which travels from Tughlakabad to Dhleta village.
